Weather: cool and clear, a much needed reprieve after the scorching temperatures we'd been enduring. The forecast was the same for the rest of the week, which for the beginning of July was nothing short of a miracle.
Goal: continue to demolish the second story
Workers: Bard (head destruction hancho), Rich, Robert, and the oh-so-helpful neighbor boy. On a funny side note, our old friend Brad Werner was also in town and volunteered to help out. You might remember him from our wedding nine years ago ... he was our ring bearer :)

Looking from the back of the house
This one's for Melissa because she thinks her husband is "all that!" Oh, and thanks Rob for helping tear down our home sweet home.
This picture shows the meeting of the two roof lines ... old house (aka barn) and new addition. The door that you see was the front window of our old house which was Kate's pink room. It led into the second story of the new addition which we used for storage.
It's a bit disconcerting to have your house open like this, when you actually have stuff in it. Kind of like airing your dirty laundry. The black roof to the left is the roof of our bedroom. The wooden sub flooring was the original second story where Kate and Mathis' rooms were. The second story ended right where the chair is in the front of the picture. The kitchen roof started there.
This also shows nicely the design of the trusses with the room already built in. The nice thing about this is there was no framing to do upstairs, with the exception of a couple of walls to divide things up.
The kids love this picture because they thought it was so funny that you could walk up the stairs and be outside :)
