Bard has been fully consumed with school. He's just taking one class this semester, but it's pretty tough and very time consuming, so most of his evenings and weekends are spent at the computer. He has just 2 weeks left and then he'll have finished all his credits for a Masters' Degree! We can't wait! We recently bought a pellet stove and I haven't seen Bard so happy in a long while. It's definitely his new toy and it keeps our house quite toasty, which is saying a lot for this old house :)
Mathis and Kate are busy as ever ... just being busy. When you ask Mathis what he's going to do today, he says, "play, play, play!" He loves to play with his cars, machines (bulldozers, cranes, etc.), and anything related to "GI GI guys." He also loves to turn his fire truck into a trash truck, complete with little GI GI guys that hang on the back. Kate tries her best to keep up with him, with her dolls and all their blankets tucked under one arm. They've both just gone through a growth spurt and are noticeably taller. I'm plugging away at the last trimester of this pregnancy. It's hard to believe we'll soon have another little one around here. It's been fun talking about the "new baby" with Mathis and Kate. Mathis wants to name the baby Jacob if it's a boy and Kate if it's a girl :) They both have fun "talking" to the baby and Mathis felt him kick, which he thought was hilarious. When our midwife comes and we hear the heartbeat, Mathis says it sounds like fireworks. Kate is totally smitten with her new cousin, Trevor, so I'm sure she'll be the same way when she has her own "baby."
We had a neighborhood kitten adopt us and we've grown quite fond of him. He acts like he likes us too, unlike our original cat, Spaz, who just acts like a cat. We named the new cat Mittens and he's quite spunky. He likes to climb on top of the porch roof and look at us through the kitchen door. Maybe he learned this from Spaz, who climbs up the back door and hangs on while looking in the door and meowing for his breakfast. Crazy Cats!
In other news, Matthew unexpectedly came home from Iraq for a few weeks in late October. We didn't see too much of him, though, as he and Kathleen are still "newlyweds." Melissa just got engaged last week and they are planning an early January wedding, so we're all quite busy with planning. I'll be 37 weeks and definitely a "blooming bridesmaid!"
