Fireman Alex visits the library, and so do we!

Last Wednesday was a beautiful spring day and with Kate on my back and Bard pulling Mathis in the wagon we headed to the library for a visit from the Fire Department. For days Mathis talked of nothing more than seeing the "woo-oh, woo-oh, woo-oh," his name for anything that has or is even associated with sirens. He loves to spot them for his perch in the car seat and alerts us each time with his signature sound. So when it was finally time to go, he was armed with his Fire Chief hat and was very excited.

We enjoyed browsing through the For Sale books and found a few to take home, and then the firefighter arrived! He wasn't in his gear to start with, which was good because we thought that Mathis would be a bit overwhelmed. Bard and I learned quite a bit about Fire Safety and Mathis got to wear the fireman's hat. He was very serious the whole time.

He wasn't quite sure about all the safety gear but safely in Daddy's arms he ventured a
handshake with the fireman.

Heading home we were grateful for the sacrifices our fireman make, our two tired little ones, and the blessing of living within walking distance of the library, because we sure do love going there!
