August in Pictures

This picture is too funny not to post! The strap on this hat broke a while back but Mathis loves it so much that I made a new one from a piece of yarn. After a while that broke too so I tried just retying the original piece of yarn, but it was much too short. Mathis however, didn't have a problem with that, I just told him that it goes under your nose now instead of your neck :)

Mid-August found us in DC at the Annual Army Concert featuring the 1812 Overture. It was a beautifully cool night for August and mom watched the kids for the night. If you were anywhere close to Maryland Bard would love to show you the video of the ending of the Overture complete with 32 cannon blasts. Mathis would be happy to watch it every day. He calls it "Big Guns." They make a perfect pair, those two :)

In the car, when Kate gets bored, she puts her BaaBaa (her sheep, from which she is inseparable) over her head and laughs hysterically :)
Near the end of August we went to Western Maryland for the annual Mennonite Auction/Family Day that we always enjoy so much. The weekend before we snagged a brand new tent at a yard sale for $20. Bard set it up at the lake and he and Mathis spent one night out there. Mathis really wasn't scared like he looks in the picture. He was bouncing off the mattress (yep, no sleeping on sleeping bags for these two) late into the night.

Mathis spent quite a while playing with the puppies in the barn.

We also visited a petting zoo with Grandma while we were away.

Here's a quality shot of Bard's new hairdo :)

How'd you like to be on the other side of the fence from this fella?

You know that saying ... there was a little girl, with a little curl ...

After a long day at the fairgrounds they slept all three hours home, Mathis with his blanket and Kate with her BaaBaa :)
